EUROPA: CAFÉS, CANTEENS AND COFFEE ROASTERY
Since we opened Café Europa 1989 more than 30 years ago, our interest in the world around us has become a part of our DNA. We involve ourselves in culture, the local environment as well as developmental projects that strengthen the quality of what we serve and the way we work.
The story behind our canteens
In the beginning of 1993, the Ministry of Environment relocated and situated themselves in Højbro Plads in the heart of Copenhagen. They had no canteen nor catering for meetings, therefore they approached us asking for help. And just like that, we served the first Europa coffee to the minister in the ministry’s meeting room 5 minutes later…
Since then, our business has grown to the point where we now operate 33 canteens all around Denmark and serve lunch to 15.000 people each and every day. Every canteen has its own tailored contract, which is suited to accommodate their needs for service, meals and menus. That said, it is also a result of our notions on health, organic commodities, animal welfare and sustainability that drive these partnerships.
To put it simply, it is love for the delicate seasonal commodities, the delightful taste and great food on a daily basis that makes up our canteens. It is a place to relax, enjoy and create new positive energies in an otherwise hectic work day.
Good coffee is our soft spot
For us, coffee is a passion. We have developed biodynamic café-milk for the whole restaurant industry, been to Latin America to optimize our quality of coffee and ensure that the farmers are paid the rightful amount for their efforts and opened our own coffee roastery in Gellerup, where the local community are hired as part of our production team.

EUROPA 1989’s COFFEE ROASTERY
After many years of making and developing better coffee and tea, we decided to open our own coffee roastery in Gellerup, Aarhus in 2019. We did this to ensure that we were responsible and accountable for the quality of our coffee throughout the value chain and take cofee to the next level.
Good coffee is the result of great craftmanship, from the farmer who cultivates the beans to the roasting process and last but not least the brewing process. Europa specializes in the roasting and brewing of coffee. - and, we are masters of hunting down the best coffee beans. We care for organic and sustainable coffee, where everyone is well paid for their great work.
In 2020 we expanded our assortment and team by establishing a collaboration with Sigfred’s Coffee. We share the same vision of providing better coffee and tea, which is to be enjoyed by more people and are very proud of our professional team, who have many years of experience in coffee roasting and within the coffee industry.
